As a light source, daylight is gloriously and meaningfully dynamic! The key to any successfully daylit environment is the artful application of advanced daylighting products that create beautiful spaces that address the occupants’ visual, psychological, and physiological needs over time. The trick is developing a daylighting solution that selectively harvests the meaningful, dynamic elements of daylight, while tempering the problematic aspects through the application of Solatube International’s uniquely engineered and patented, advanced optical daylighting technologies and systems.
The extensive family of Solatube Daylighting System products enable the building owner and/or design architect, engineer, contractor to create spaces that truly nurture space occupants while also effectively displacing the need for using electric light during daytime hours throughout the year. The critical, and often missing component in the process is having the right files, data, and expert guidance so that you can make educated design decisions. To assist in this process, Solatube International, Inc. has pioneered many technical tools and resources than can be used the in daylight modeling, evaluation, and design refinement process. Whether you’re you are new to applying advanced daylighting to an interior space, or are a daylighting expert needing specific data files and resources, or we have the tools and/or experts who can guide you on your quest to achieving the ideal Solatube daylighting solution.
Do you need help identifying the perfect Solatube Daylighting System Solution for your unique daylighting need? Your local Solatube Design Expert is a unique daylighting industry expert who will work with you to identify the exact daylighting needs of your project, and apply advanced daylighting design & analysis knowledge, tools, and product design expertise to help you craft a solution that best suits your project budget and annual daylighting performance goals.
At the heart of Solatube International’s Design Expert’s design assistance and daylighting modeling services is the advanced Solatube Design Calculator. The Solatube Design Calculator features detailed support for all Solatube products using either ideal or real TMY (typical meteorological year) climate data for cities around the globe, so you can compare and contrast multiple systems in any design configuration. In just moments, a detailed performance analysis provides you with the information you need to quickly identify the best possible Solatube daylighting solution for any space, anywhere in the world.
Using the ground-breaking Solatube Design Calculator tool, your Solatube Daylighting Design Expert can quickly inform your design process by comparing hourly and annualized product solutions, generate point by point illuminance calculations (perfect for USGBC LEED v4 analysis and compliance), generate product-specific IES data files that can be seamlessly incorporated into other radiosity-based lighting analysis tools, and even generate detailed hourly task-related performance data for every hour of the year in CSV file format.

Solatube has partnered with Solemma’s flagship software, ClimateStudio. ClimateStudio is the fastest and most accurate environmental performance analysis software for the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. Its simulation workflows help designers and consultants optimize buildings for energy efficiency, daylight access, electric lighting performance, visual and thermal comfort, and other measures of occupant health. With the new Solatube integration, ClimateStudio can simulate the performance of Solatube products using a customized version of Radiance, a validated reverse light ray tracing engine. This innovation makes it possible to place Solatube TDDs in existing 3D architectural models and extract LEED Daylight Credit reports, which are submissible to the USGBC.
