Welcome to Playa del Carmen, located in the beautiful Mexican Caribbean! Your resort is only minutes away from Cancun’s International airport.

The area features an array of attractions ranging from beautiful white sand beaches, Mayan sites, and the second largest coral reef formation besides the world’s largest underground cave system.


The average high/low temperature in February is around 82°/69°.

Things to Do at the Resort

  • Relax poolside at a variety of the resort’s pools
  • Schedule a massage at the YHI Spa, a 19K square foot spa and fitness club including fourteen massage cabins, wet/dry saunas, and state-of-the-art workout equipment
  • Take a tango lesson

The official currency is the Mexican Peso (MXP), although the U.S. dollar is accepted almost everywhere. The exchange rate can be approximately 19-20 pesos to US$1.00. Please be sure to check updated rates as we approach the conference dates.

Credit cards are widely accepted except in smaller establishments, so it’s best to travel with travelers’ checks and some cash.


The domestic electric current is 110 volts (the U.S. = 110v; Canada = 120v)


Spanish is the official language and Mayan is the local language, but English, French, Italian and German are also widely spoken.

VAT (Value Added Tax)

The VAT is a 16% sales tax that applies to the purchase of most goods and services, including room rates.

If you would like to apply for a VAT refund for any goods bought for deportation, you must present receipts for the goods purchased (and possibly proof of your deportation of the goods) to a Mexico VAT refund station (which are often found in airports, tourist offices, or international travel hubs.)

Resort Information

The Paradisus Resort is comprised of two adjoining, all-inclusive properties. La Perla is an adults-only luxury resort, while Paradisus Playa del Carmen is a family-friendly resort. Those staying at La Perla have access to both properties. The conference will take place at La Perla.

There are 14 restaurants and 16 bars to choose from at the resort. Please refer to the final agenda handed out during check-in for breakfast, lunch, and dinner locations.


The Riviera Maya is known for its white sand beaches, including a private beach accessible to hotel guests. Be sure to check out the warm waters during the various breaks throughout the week/weekend!

Activities (some of these require additional costs)

The Paradisus has a variety of activities to choose from including but not limited to:

  • Sports activities (volleyball, Pilates, meditation; sorry, no golf on-site but nearby available)
  • Tequila workshops and wine tasting
  • Live music
  • Dance classes, including Tango
  • Diving/snorkeling
  • Spa

  • One-day excursions (to Maya ruins such as Tulum and Chichén Itzá)

Booking Your Travel

Where/When to Fly In/Out Of

Please arrange your flights for a final destination of the Cancun International Airport. The conference will kick off on Thursday, February 3rd in the early evening so please plan on arriving in time for that, and schedule your departure for Monday, February 7th.

Ground Transportation

Ground transportation will be made for you by Solatube International when you Register for the conference. Please be sure to include your flight details.

Required Travel Documents

You will need a passport that is valid at the time of travel. Your passport should be valid for six months beyond your return date from Mexico (ex: if your return date is February 7, 2022, your passport should be valid through August 7, 2022).
