Solatube partners with ClimateStudio

Solatube International Inc. has announced its partnership with Solemma’s flagship software, ClimateStudio. Integrating Solatube with ClimateStudio’s analysis tool means that design professionals can now quickly and easily simulate the performance of Solatube Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs) to capture, transfer and deliver controlled daylight to artfully illuminate nearly any interior space.

What is ClimateStudio?

ClimateStudio is the fastest and most accurate environmental performance analysis software for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector.

Its simulation helps designers and consultants optimize buildings for daylight access, lighting performance, energy efficiency, visual and thermal comfort and other measures of occupant health and wellbeing.

ClimateStudio + Solatube

Integrating Solatube with ClimateStudio’s analysis tool means that design professionals can now quickly and easily simulate the performance of Solatube Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs) to capture, transfer and deliver controlled daylight to artfully illuminate nearly any interior space.

With this partnership, architects, engineers and construction professionals are able to quickly evaluate and refine effective daylighting solutions that provide outstanding, and groundbreaking annual daylighting performance for energy-savings and occupant health and wellbeing.

With groundbreaking speeds and automated reporting, you can go from zero to compliance with the click of a button.

This analysis tool is possible through the use of a customized version of Radiance, which is a validated reverse light ray tracing engine.

This partnership makes it possible to place Solatube TDDs in existing 3D architectural models and extract LEED Daylight Credit reports, which are submissible to the USGBC.

What are Solatube Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs) exactly?

Solatube TDDs are a simple, affordable and energy-efficient way to bring natural, controlled sunlight into a building from virtually any angle.

They harvest daylight at the rooftop, transfer it down a highly reflective tube and distribute it evenly into an interior space through a diffuser at the ceiling — on both sunny and cloudy days. Additional features can also be fitted to specific TDD systems to allow the devices to dim and/or integrate with LEDs.

Solatube offers the highest Light Transfer Efficiency (LTE), the most consistent Color Temperature Maintenance (CTM) and the best light-to-solar heat gain ratio of any daylighting system on the market. TDD patented technology nearly eliminates infrared wavelengths from 950-2500nm, allowing the system to deliver a full spectrum of visible light without bringing in the heat, making TDDs perfect for hot climates where traditional skylights may be a problem.

The first Solatube product was sold in 1991 and today more than 2 million people have improved their homes with Solatube TDDs, and millions more have enjoyed the benefits at department stores, schools, hotels, hospitals, grocery stores, offices and athletic facilities. Well-known Fortune 500 brands have enhanced their customers’ experiences while reducing their corporate energy costs by incorporating Solatube products into their stores, offices and facilities.
