2022 Awards Recap
As we kick off the new year, we would like to look back at some of the achievements our team at Solatube International accomplished in 2022. We strive to bring the most advanced and cutting-edge daylighting products to the market, and we are honored for the various recognition those products have received this year.
Rooftop Fire Glazing
The new Solatube Rooftop Fire Glazing is a multi-pane glass disk with a steel ring designed to meet the increasing demand for fire protection in high-fire areas.
It is made with a fully tempered top layer and includes two layers of glass laminated with a layer of PVB, which prevent the glass from dropping to the floor and igniting a fire inside the building.
When used in conjunction with the Solatube Dome Edge Protection Band, the Rooftop Fire Glazing meets the prescriptive building code requirements for areas located in high fire areas and Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) zones.

Design Journal’s Hottest Products of the Trade
Design Journal’s Hottest Products of the Trade 2022 celebrates the best products of the year. Judges that are among the A&D industry’s most respected in their respective areas of expertise select the products for each category.
Design Journal selected Solatube’s Rooftop Fire Glazing as part of their Skylights/Floorlights category.
OptiView Diffusers
The OptiView Diffusers have a frost-like appearance and micro-replicated lens technology with pseudo-randomized lens orientations that guide and deliver diffused daylight. OptiView Wide is used for horizontal, ambient illumination and/or wall-washing lighting. OptiView Superwide has high-angle illumination and is used for wall washing and volumetric daylighting. OptiView Narrow is used for highlighting specific objects in a space and for creating pools of high illuminance. LED lighting kits are optional, and assemblies (dome, flashing, tubing, diffuser) have seals to prevent insect and dirt infiltration.
Metal Construction News’ Readers’ Choice Awards
The Metal Construction News’ Readers’ Choice Awards for 2022 considers products that have been featured in editorial coverage in issues of Metal Construction News between June 2021 and May 2022. The team then tracks the leads generated by each product from its readers and ranks them according to the number of leads.
Solatube International’s OptiView Diffusers were ranked number two for the previous year and were honored with the award.
SolaMaster 750 DS-O ICC 500 Storm Shelter-Compliant Daylighting System
The Solatube SolaMaster 750DS TDD was awarded the first-ever ICC 500 Storm Shelter Listing Report in 2021, after rigorous evaluation by the ICC Evaluation Service (ICC-ES). It remains the only rooftop daylighting device in the world compliant for use in horizontal surfaces of tornado or hurricane storm shelters—even in EF 5 and CAT 5 territory.
Solatube International is the only top lighting solution to achieve ICC 500 P 361 storm shelter compliance without the need for additional penetration protection.

Association for Learning Environments’ Solution Provider Award
The Solution Provider Award, sponsored by the Association for Learning Environments, is designed to spotlight innovation in materials, technology, products and services that are key elements in defining healthy, high-performance schools. The award recognizes the results of those efforts and the foresight of the companies whose policies bring new products to the marketplace.
The Association for Learning Environments selected SolaMaster 750 DS-O ICC 500 Storm Shelter-compliant daylighting system for its ability to protect the health and safety of occupants in educational facilities.
Architectural Record’s Products of the Year
Each year, the Architectural Record’s Products of the Year competition invites a jury of six professionals to select the best new products of the year, rating entries for innovation, usefulness, and aesthetics.
